Dana Alison Levy was raised by pirates but escaped at a young age and went on to earn a degree in aeronautics and puppetry. Actually, that’s not true—she just likes to make things up. That’s why she always wanted to write books. Dana’s new novel, Above All Else takes place on Mount Everest and is her first for Young Adults. She also has a new book out Breaking the Mold: Changing the Face of Climate Science, which profiles sixteen diverse scientists and offers a snapshot of how everyone belongs in science.
She has a nonfiction anthology entitled Allies: Real Talk about Showing Up, Screwing Up, and Trying Again which she co-edited with Shakirah Bourne.
Dana also has novels for younger kids, The Misadventures of the Family Fletcher, The Family Fletcher Takes Rock Island, This Would Make a Good Story Someday, and It Wasn’t Me have garnered multiple starred reviews, been named to Best Of lists, and have received recognition from both the Junior Library Guild and the American Library Association. Also, her kids like them.
Dana has lived in Paris, Santorini, and New York, but she currently resides locally. She lives here with her husband and her kids and loves posting pictures of her cats. (They're cute cats!!!!)
