July 20th at 3pm, local author Dana Levy celebrates the publication of her new children's book, "The Misadventures of the Family Fletcher"
Newburyporter Dana Alison Levy will talk about The Misadventures of the Family Fletcher, her charming new book for elementary-age readers (and adults lucky enough to be blessed with a young heart). Perfect for fans of The Penderwicks and James Patterson’s Middle School series, this seriously funny, modern family adventure features two dads, four adopted boys, and a variety of pets. The family has high hopes for a successful school year, but when have things ever gone as planned? Many lasting laughs and legitimate life-lessons are in store for anyone who chooses to join the Fletchers on their delightful misadventures.
In a starred review, the School Library Journal wrote, "Fans of Beverly Cleary’s Quimbys, Judy Blume’s Hatchers, and, more recently, Jeanne Birdsall’s Penderwicks will fervently hope that more Fletcher misadventures are yet to come." And in another starred review, Kirkus Reviews summed it up rather eloquently: "The Fletcher family rules!”
As legend would have it, Dana Alison Levy was raised by pirates but escaped at a young age and went on to earn a degree in aeronautics and puppetry. Actually, that’s not true—she just likes to make things up. That’s why she has always wanted to write books. She was born and raised in New England and studied English literature before going to graduate school for business.
A sequel for this heartfelt, inclusive and funny story has already been announced, so hopefully we will be hearing much more from Dana Alison Levy in the future—but that doesn’t mean you or your family should miss this opportunity to meet and talk with and be inspired by the author.
